Allana Maiden - Development & Communications Coordinator

Allana joined the RAL team in 2022 to do what she does best: tell stories that make people fall in love with pets they haven’t even met yet. With a background in Communications, Journalism, and PR—and over a decade working in animal welfare—she’s spent most of her adult life helping animals find homes, and using her words to help make it happen.

Her journey in the field began in 2012 at the Richmond SPCA, where she worked in Admissions and later as their Foster Coordinator. These days, she handles all things communications at RAL, from social media posts that make you laugh-snort to newsletters that remind you why this work matters, and everything in between.

Originally from a small Appalachian town, Allana has called Richmond home for over a decade. She enjoys hiking, reading in her hammock, going to shows, and turning pet photos into Renaissance art with the power of Photoshop. She shares her home with two dogs, Ruby and Willie—and husband Adam, who somehow ended up third in that sentence.
