April Foster Spotlight - Colleen Close & Indi Armstrong

If you’ve spent any time around RAL’s foster program, chances are you’ve heard the names Colleen Close and Indi Armstrong. Since joining the foster team in May of 2022, this dynamic duo has opened their home—and their hearts—to some of the tiniest and most vulnerable pets who’ve come through our doors.

Their specialty? Bottle baby kittens and cats with special needs. “But we also love to foster momma dogs and their puppies as well!” they add. That level of flexibility and care is part of what makes them such a vital part of the foster network.

All of Colleen and Indi’s own pets are rescues, so when it came to fostering, it felt like a natural next step. “We enjoy helping pets in need,” they say. “It’s helped our resident pets be more confident and playful as well!” With five cats, three dogs, a crested gecko, and an average of two foster pets in the house at any given time, it’s safe to say their home is always full of life—and love.

Their favorite part of fostering? Watching foster pets grow and become confident in a home setting. “We have special memories with all of our fosters,” they say, “but we have a special place in our heart for our bottle babies that we’ve raised from birth to adoption.”

When they’re not caring for animals, Colleen and Indi enjoy gaming—both video games and board games—and have recently taken up gardening. Whether it’s nurturing plants or pets, this pair clearly has a gift for helping things grow.

We’re grateful to have Colleen and Indi as part of the RAL family. Their compassion and commitment make a lasting impact on every life they touch—human and animal alike.
